| Objectives:To investigate the expression of two mucins (MUC5AC/MUC5B) in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis (before and after endoscopic sinus surgery) and patients without the disease. Discuss the influence and clinical significance of mucins in the Hypersecretion of mucosa in chronic rhinosinusitis. Methods:Acquisition maxillar sinus mucosa of chronic rhinosinusitis patients before and six months after surgery (20 cases respectively), and 5 cases of normal inferior turbinate mucosa. The expression of MUC5AC/MUC5B were detected by immunohistoche-mistry.Results:The distribution of MUC5AC/MUC5B were detected by immunohistochemical, which shows that the expression of the mucins were mainly focus on the cytoplasm of the goblet cell (MUC5AC), and endochylema of the submucosal gland (MUC5B). The expression of MUC5AC/MUC5B in preoperative group was significantly higher than that in postoperative group (p<0.05). The expression of MUC5AC/ MUC5B in postoperative group was similar to normal group (p>0.05). And the expression of MUC5AC/MUC5B in preoperative group was significantly higher than that in normal group (p< 0.05).Conclusion:1.MUC5AC/MUC5B were both expressed in nasal mucosa. The expression of MUC5AC was mainly concentrated in the cytoplasm of the goblet cell, and MUC5B mainly concentrated in endochylema of the submucosal gland.2. Immunohistochemistry showed that the expression of MUC5AC/MUC5B in preoperative group were higher than operative group and the normal group. MUC5AC/MUC5B are secreted in high level in chronic rhinosinusitis mucus. But sixth month after surgery, patients'nasal mucosa had finished epithelisation mostly. When nasal cavities were without obvious purulent secretion, the expression of MUC5AC/MUC5B in sinus mucosa of chronic rhinosinusitis cut down. |
