With the economic development, local ecosystem is deteriorating with the abandoned mining quarries. Based on the assessment of ecological restoration potential in Ziyang,62 plants with strong adaptation and 15 abandoned lands of 6 areas were selected for investigation. The results are as follows:1) In this paper,12 the number of indicators of 4 fields were choosed to establish the evaluation index syste of revegetation potential.12 indicators include:vegetation coverage, irrigation, precipitation, soil thickness, soil pH, organic matter content, N, P, K, slope, abandoned life and mine or kiln size.4 fields contained: vegetation, soil, terrain conditions and status of waste land. Three levels of revegetation potential were defined: can easily restore, can restore and difficult to restore. Classification of all second level factors were based on these three levels. Sharp mountain abandoned mine land in North Township of Anyue and Baohe town abandoned brick kilns of Yanjiang district can be easily restored; Jiajia town abandoned brick kilns of Jianyang and Cock mountain abandoned mine land in shizhong of Jianyang can be restored; Sharp mountain abandoned mine land in Dongxi town of Jianyang and abandoned brick kilns in Qingxi district of Anyue were difficult to restore.2) Based on the outdoor survey from April to October 2008,62 plants were chosen for investigation, which include 13 plant trees,23 shrubs and 26 herbs or vines. These plants showed good adaptability in the natural climatic conditions in these region.3) 315 plants of 15 waste land in Ziyang were investigated, a total of 172 statistical plant, belonging to 64 families 153 genera, of which a total of 97 kinds of herbs,39 species of shrubs and 36 species of plant trees. Large number of species for which most Asteraceae (Compositae, 16 genera and 21 species), Poaceae (Gramineae, 14 genera and 17 species) and legumes (Leguminosae,14 belong to 15 species). Results of three kinds of plant diversity indiccated that abandoned waste at the point of good ecological restoration, followed by abandoned brick kilns, the worst for abandoned mine land. But the survey showed that the wasteland plant community in Ziyang region is dispersed, and herbs were the dominant group (Asteraceae, Leguminosae and Gramineae).4) Based on the waste land classification and evaluation in the Ziyang region, we provide measures of waste ecological restoration in these region for abandoned brick kilns, quarrying/mining and other waste land based on the main type of waste land (abandoned brick kilns and quarrying and mining sites) and scientific reference.
