Virtualization technology has been widely applied in many areas, and it will also be developed in more fields. Therefore, the study of the virtualization has also become the focus in the field of computer. Most of today's server platforms and desktop processors have been added virtualization support, but this is only solving the problem how to support virtualization better in the processor level. In order to make virtualization solutions more efficient, the virtualization hardware support are gradually added to computer systems at all levels, and gradually form a better support for virtualization eco-system.I/O virtualization technology as an important component of virtualization technology has been the focus in academic and industry's research nowadays. Intel Corporation introduces a new technology which called Virtualization Technology for Direct I/O. It can provide better support for I/O virtualization through the introduction of DMA remapping hardware. This paper introduces the virtualization technology and the basic principle of the virtual machine of XEN firstly. Then the I/O virtualization model of XEN is analyzed According to the analysis, a new I/O virtualization model which is based on the technology of VT-d is presented. And it is implemented in XEN. The main task of coding is the implementation of the DMA remapping module and the device assignment module. After testing and evaluation, this model can effectively improves the performance of virtual machines and meets high-performance server platform I/O needs.
