Authenticity is the heart's-blood of the news report. This is a basic criteria and the universal rule which can not be abandoned when conducting news reporting work at any moment. While, the inconsistency with the fact of news reports, just like chronic illness, is always existing stubbornly ever since the naissance of journalism. Viewing comprehensively on the Chinese journalism, the problem of false news reports has been the most frequently occurred malady, which is severely threatening the public credibility of our mass media. Because of a variety of the reasons, the inconsistency with the fact in news reports'seldom gets questioned or punished. That's why the media are making false reports repeatedly. This indicates that adequate attentions have not been paid to the latent aftermath caused by the news reports'inconsistency with the fact. At all times and in all countries, any types of the news reports which is inconsistent with the fact report will consequentially produce abominable impact to the society, even lead to disastrous result. This dissertation focuses on the inconsistency with the fact of mass media's news reports since the reform and opening-up policy in China. Combined With China's historical and social transition, it analyzes and elaborates on the different forms of the news reports'inconsistency with the fact at every stage of this new period. It tries to find the political and economical reasons behind those news reports which are inconsistent with the fact. In addition, this dissertation has searched after some effective measures to reduce the news reports'inconsistency with the fact in according to the current structure and situation of Chinese journalism and using the available foreign experience for reference.
