The highest macro-structure discourse of television interview program is the whole program which includes segments of utterances, picture, music and sound which can be further divided. The lowest hierarchy of micro-structure discourse of the utterances is sentence and turn-taking.This thesis elaborates the program named"Dating with LuYu"on the phenomenon of turn-taking between hosts and guests and turn control strategies they adopt in talk shows. Another aim of the study is to analysis the influence of context element in this show.Following the turn-taking model proposed by Schegloff, Jefferson and Sacks(1974) through the analysis of daily conversation, and taking the nature and characteristics of talk show ,this thesis focus on the turn-control strategies between the host and the guests. This program shows its different character from four aspects which include turn-yielding,turn-holding,turn-claiming,feedback.The context element plays an important role in the television program. The discourse of television interview program is determined by the context and television interview program discourse is created in the context. The study of context in this thesis is situational and textual context.As pointed out at the end of the thesis, through the analysis of this show, I hope that it would rich the study of turn-taking in different context and be helpful to the television program.
