Modulation Domain is a plane which shows the relation between frequency and time involved. Modulation Domain Pulse Analyzer is used in a wide range of applications including digital communication systems, electronic warfare system and so on.The first measure system was made by out research group one year ago. In that system, the base time is 50MHz. That system composed of a high-performance CPLD and a high-density FPGA, the first chip plays an interface and the second one plays counter, reader and writer of RAM. However, that low base time also limit the measure range. Now this project adds some key modules, such as ECL modules, based on the first measure system, this ECL modules are used to divide the high frequency pulse. This new measure system can display higher performances, such as higher measure range. In the hardware aspect, this paper presents the new measure system composed of high-density FPGA and ECL modules and EPP interface. All this system needs designing lots of digital logic modules, so the FPGA could better utilized in the sequential digital logic such as PLL, and RAMs. In the memory design, the embedded RAM in the FPGA is fully utilized, which can be easily resized to meet the needs of the system. In the interface design, communication between PC and FPGA is realized through DB25 Parallel Interface, hence, the system control and measure parameter section can be easily done from PC. In the software design aspect, a debugging tool based VB language wad firstly tested ok, then, User Interface on PC is designed by Visual C++ 6.0 SP6.The detailed analysis of the logic design for core function modules in FPGA is presented, and some RTL lever simulation results are also displayed. At the same time, the system's hardware designs are introduced in these chapters. The PCB diagram and the real object are also available at the end of the paper.
