Modulation Domain is a plane domain which is consisted of frequency and time of signals. It shows the relation between frequency and time. It is a necessary field to measure signals in three-dimension space of signal ( time domain, frequency domain and modulation domain). Modulation domain analysis offers a unique method for viewing complex modulated signals. Modulation Domain Analyzer (MDA) is used in a wide range of applications including digital communication system, radar and electronic warfare system, mechanical electronic system and is necessary for researching, producing, maintaining modern military and civil electronic instruments. A practical Modulation Domain Analyzer (MDA) has been made by our teach and research group in the 9th 5 years. In that system, the base time is 400MHz. The analog interpolation technique is used for improving the precision of the system, but the system is not stable enough. The main objective of this project is to improving the stability and performance. New techniques let the new system (MDPA-1) more stable and enhance the performance greatly. The principle of this measure system, the measure theory and the key techniques will be introduced in this paper. The key techniques includes "zero dead time counter(ZDT)", "related counter", "positive and negative time base counter", "high speed sample technique", etc. The methods to realize the system by hardware and software will be present, too. At last, the error of the system will be analyzed. The approaches to revise the error and the same of the measure results will be showed.
