Minority Women Journalists: The History And Characteristics

From the foundation of mass media, it appears take the male power as the central image and the importance of feminine journalists is ignored. Until the Reform of Movement of 1898, the reformists realized the importance of women's liberation. They advocated the illuminative ideology paid attention to women's liberation, and then China's first female journalist comes on. Subsequently, ethnic minority female journalists were beginning to participate in operations of newspapers.In recent years, more and more ethnic minority female journalists enter the field of media. They challenge the traditional female image and expand the report range. As they play an up-rising role in the field, great importance of their discourse is attached to them. The reasons of their appearance include the development of economy, the consciousness of gender etc.The thesis, based on the achievements of many predecessors' and researchers', has a general scan of ethnic minority female journalist. The thesis that comprises three chapters begins with a preface offering a sketch of its present situation. And the development of process of ethnic minority female journalist before the Establishment of People's Republic of China and the subjective and objective cause of the rise of ethnic minority female journalist are summarized in the chapter that follows. In chapter two, the author analyzes the upswing in career and realistic embarrassment of ethnic minority female journalist. At last, with content analysis of Xinjiang Economy Newspaper, the author draws the conclusion that ethnic minority female journalists have held the discourse power of female image in mass media. In chapter three, resolutions of the present problems are discussed. The up-rising, difficulty and conflict which are mentioned above, draw outline of the living condition of the feminine journalist. The media field, researching field, and the ethnic minority female journalists should positively ponder to obtain the self-fulfillment with the development of the media and society.
