In the network transmission of local area network and wide area network, high-end routers play an important role. The interface that high-end routers use is the key to reflect its role. This thesis will analyze a high speed, steady, flexible wide area network interface of high-end routers- channel interface of POS, referred to CPOS.CPOS is applied to high-end routers as a new, high-speed, flexible network interface. It succeeds in evolving from POS interface, takes SDH and SONET as physical layer protocol, PPP as link layer protocol. The application of CPOS interface greatly increases the richness of the network interface and the agility of equipment Application. With its obvious advantages, CPOS is applied widely in network terminal equipment (such as high-end routers), and has indispensable effect in wide area network.This thesis mainly introduces the design of CPOS interface, it includes the hardware design and the software design of CPOS daughter card. In hardware frame, mainly described the high-end router overall outward appearance, plate's design cycle, in sub-card skeleton and sub-card chip concrete function. In the CPOS software design, mainly described software's overall skeleton, each level software's function, some major function, and HASH table design.
