Since the reform and the opening to the outside world, China has conducted a series of reforms in different domains, such as politics, economy and culture. Therefore, the original system has been transformed and the custom has been broken. The reform of the medical treatment system, as a significant component of this reform tide, becomes the hot issue of the society because of its own specific characteristics and inseparability with people's lives. The reform of medical treatment system has gained some achievements and also met a series of problems, for instance, the relationship between the doctor and the patient becomes increasingly tense, and the images of doctors have went bad. With the rise of the propagation of health in China, doctors become the vital factor of the propagation and their image-creating has also involved governments, media, hospitals, patients and audiences, not only the populace. In this aspect, the present research in China is not perfect, demanding further enrichment and reinforcement. The research is exactly based on this background. The author tries to make the Chinese doctors' images in the transforming period as the subject and analyzes the images from the point of semeiology. In the introduction, the author presents the problems, providing information about the present situation of the related research at home and abroad, and gives brief information about the research methods. The body of the thesis is divided into four chapters. Firstly, the author analyzes the general characteristics of the doctors' image-creating in the transforming period. Then, the author discusses the examples which are chosen from the related news stories in the Jinling Evening News, using the method of speech-analyzing. At last, the author analyzes the reasons and proposes an overall strategy to deal with the problems.China has entered a new historical period. People from all levels of society become increasingly closer in the relations, so the media should describe different groups objectively and entirely to promote mutual understanding between each other. The thesis hopes to study the Chinese images in the native environment and make some contributions to the research of media images and health propagation.
