According to the field study of Hong Lin Cuo in Minqing County, Fujian Province, this thesis investigates how to protect both objective and abstract cultural importance in the Hong Lin Cuo Heritage Site, and how to reach win-win goals which concern both protection and development of the heritage site. The second part of the thesis studies the possibility of transforming the Hong Lin Cuo Heritage Site into a new anthropological museum with its own ecological characteristics.Bandong ancient folk house cluster, which mainly built in the early Qing dynasty, is a distinctive type of ancient South Chinese local architecture. It has high value of appreciating and studying. Within the Bandong house cluster, Hong Lin Cuo is famous for its productiveness of both objective and abstract cultural importance, and is called the national biggest folk house cluster. However, the local development of economic wealth bothers the protecting process of this heritage site. This conflict is not rare in the Bandong area, where many heritage sites are facing the embarrass discord between economic development and heritage protection. Meanwhile, the growth of anthropological museums is confronted with bottleneck due to the atrophying traditional research resources.
