The research of the virtual scene simulation platform based on OpenGL is an innovation project in graduate school. This research aimed at the project application, used the modern information technology, simulated the virtual scene simulation platform had the high practical value, produced the way of realizing the entire system and the function the scene simulation platform has. This paper develops with the design, development and realization of the "virtual scene simulation platform ", and it's main research work and results are as follows:1. The virtual scene simulation platform is an software development environment based on MFC and OpenGL, it's main function includes the management and maintenance of the virtual environment, the lifelike displaying of the virtual environment , provides the management of the realized object, such as three-dimensional body demonstration, three dimensional scene management, sound management, terrain dispatch, particle system, network interface, object alternant control and the real-time maintenance of the object and so on.2. Analyzed and studied the methods of constructing terrain by diamond-square fractal algorithm and reading the real terrain data, and used these two methods to structure visual and lifelike terrain respectively. Analyzed and studied and the way of realizing flight browsing and real-time displaying technology of the terrain.3. Designed and realized the multi-viewpoint, the multi-perspectives and the omni-directional real-time observation method, might optionally control the viewpoint to observe partial or the overall scene as necessary, has provided the convenient way for the user to carry on macroscopic and the microscopic observation of the simulation process.4.
