Biochip is an emerging high technology in biometrics that combines knowledge in many fields, such as microelectronics, biology, physics, chemistry, genetics and computer science . It is convenient to detect and analyze gene information fast and accurately with this method. Now biochip has been widely applied in gene inspection, aberrance, diagnoses, disease and so on. Generally, there are two kinds of biochip: solid-biochip and suspension-biochip. Suspension biochip has many advantages over traditional solid biochip, and has been becoming the focus of research in many countries at present.Image acquiring system plays an important role in detecting suspension biochip using fluorescence method. In this paper, a novel image acquiring system with CCD and CPLD is presented. After discussing the whole design, we select the main devices in this project, design the PCB with Protel99 and make it work well. At last, we test the whole system, the results illustrate that it is possible to detect fluorescence in suspension biochip by this image acquiring system.A brief description about the current situation of suspension biochip is given in the first two chapters. Compared with the existing detection process in suspension biochip system, the novel design is presented in the third and the fourth chapter. In the following two chapters, hardware design and software programming are discussed in detail. At last, the performance of this image acquiring system is analyzed in the seventh chapter, here we also summarize the whole system.
