The technology of Mobile Ad Hoc Networking (MANET) is somewhat synonymous with Mobile Packet Radio Networking (a term coined via during early military research in the 70's and 80's). It is the aggregation of hardware and software that include wireless transmitter-receivers and computers, which is based on the technology of Packet Radio Networking. The technology of Mobile Ad Hoc Networking is mainly uses in military/fire/safety/sescue because it can rapidly deploy survivable, efficient dynamic networking. Some application of MANET technology could include industrial and commercial applications and it can be operated as robust, inexpensive alternatives for cell-based mobile network infrastructures. The thesis first simply introduced the current situation and future development of Wireless AdHoc Networking, the basic conception of MANET, characteristics of the network, infrastructure of the network and a series of problems faced. And then, based on MANET environment, we compared many routing protocols used in MANET and select AODV routing protocol as the network layer protocol. We used two kinds of different ways separately to improved traditional AODV routing protocol and come into being CLAODV(Cross Layer AODV Routing Protocol)and ALAR(AODV Location_aided Routing Protocol)routing protocols. In this thesis, we put up simulation platform with OPNET, and realized CLAODV/ALAR routing protocol based on it. We compared network capability of taditional AODV routing protocol and advanced AODV routing protocol and validated the feasibility of CLAODV/ALAR algorithm. All these can provide consult algorithm, model and data for design and planning of the real system.
