Light emitting diode(LED) and laser diode(LD), which are two typical semiconductor junction luminescent devices, are common photoelectric devices together with photodetectors. Our group has developed an integrated surveying system which combines the measurements of the photoelectric characteristics of these devices. The system can be used in the teaching for the undergraduates. My work concentrated on the measurements of LED and LD.The measurements of LED/LD consist of four parts: the characteristics of Voltage-Current intensity, the characteristics of Optical Power-Current intensity, the spatial distribution of the energy and the spectral characteristics. A regulated power supply is made to supply LED and LD with changeable regulated current. Digital readouts are used to display the voltage and current. A power meter is used to measure the radiation power of 632.8nm, 1310nm and 1550nm wave. Measuring of spatial distribution of the energy is realized by the use of a turntable, a guide and a brace adjustable in two directions.Measuring of spectral characteristics goes as follows: output signals of the detector are amplified by a voltage amplifier and are transferred to digital signals. The data communicates with the computer through the RS-232 serial port, and is finally displayed in the form of power-wavelength curves after the computer processing.Global analysis of the experiment system, including each part's design concept and realization, is presented in this paper on the basis of measurements principles. It is ended by a group of results and together with the prediction for our future instruments.
