The greatest triumph in mobile communication service boosts the development of the third-generation (3G), WiFi, WiMax, UWB, and4G systems. In order to meet the needs of different mobile communication system, base station antennas need to have a wider operating frequency band, a better directional radiation characteristic, a smaller cross-polarization, economic and environmentally friendly production and processing sectors, and has a stable gain over its operating band.A new magneto-electric dipole antenna was proposed by Luk in2006. The antenna has not only simple structure, wide bandwidth of43.8%(VSWR<2), nearly the same identical E-plane and H-plane, low backlobe, but also stable gain over the operating frequency.In this paper, we improve the structure of the magneto-electric dipole into bowtie, then print its radiating patch on a dielectric substrate. The antenna has a working band from3.1GHz to10.7GHz,the impedance bandwidth reaches110%(VSWR≤2), while the size of the antenna has been greatly reduced. Next, we designed a vertical plane magneto-electric dipole antenna printed on the same piece of dielectric substrate, greatly reducing the size of the antenna, making it easy to form the array antenna. Working frequency of the antenna from2.19GHz to4.10GHz, realized64%(VSWR≤2) relative bandwidth. This two designed antenna has good radiation characteristics, patterns of E and H plane are basically the same, over the entire operating band, the antennas have a stable gain, meet the requirements of modem communication systems.
