Recently, network has become the indispensible facility in every realm of our life and work. In the laboratory, network can connect experiment equipments and control computers, help teacher and student control equipments and gather experiment data, therefore improve intelligence and convenience of experiments. In the processes of experiments, the stability of network is the key factor for the security and accuracy of experiments. How to manage experiment network, detect and reduce the possible accidents in the network should be (?)nsidered.The trend of network management is standard and protocol. In various standards and protocols, SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol), which is simpler, faster and more convenient, has been supported generally by companies and research institutes. Based on SNMP, the management system for experiment network could gather MIB (Management Information Base) data from switches and routers, then deal with the information and generate the topology and state of the network, in order to provide convenient way for operators to manage experiment network.Firstly the paper introduces the background of network management, and then introduces the essential technologies and standards of SNMP:SMI (Structure of Management Information), MIB, SNMP protocol and model. Paper also analyzes and compares Java GUI technologies, including AWT/Swing and SWT/JFace, and chooses SWT (Standard Widget Toolkit) as the main technology for the GUI development of management system.Then the thesis describes the structure of experiment network, and brings up the function requirements for network management system, including network state and topology monitoring, storage and analysis of data packages, network evaluation. As the main goal for the paper, network state and topology monitoring is the essential function of the management system to gather data of equipment, generate state and topology information, and monitor possible network accidents.In the fourth chapter, paper analyzes and gives solution for two key issues: deployment of network management for experiment network and topology generation. According to requirement analysis and system solution, paper offers the overall designing plan of network management system, including design solution of management system, the introduction of modules'functions, and sequence diagrams of work scenes.After system design, paper introduces the design and implementation of modules, including essential data structure (state data, topology and event), the class diagrams and key algorithm procedures.The last part of paper is the summary and the future work of management system for experiment network.
