The concept of "Curriculum Integration" , inspired by the experienceof western countries , was proposed for the first time in 1998 by someresearchers from the Research Centre of Computer Education in theNational Middle-Primary Schools. In June 6,1999, a research group wasorganized to discuss how to integrate computers to curriculums. InJan.1999, a meeting was held by the Research Centre in Beijing NormalUniversity. Over 10 schools attended the meeting and a stage of organizedresearches on the "Curriculum Integration" has begun. In Oct.2000, theMinister of Ministry of Education, Miss Chen Zhili delivered her speechon the working conference of the Education of Information Technology inNational Middle-Primary Schools. She hoped to "advance the integrationbetween Information Technology and Curriculums". She also pointed outthat "the integration between technology and curriculum is to combine ITwith course teaching organically by means of curriculums, and it willchange the traditional concepts of teaching and learning and the learninggoals, methods and evaluation approaches. It is the first time that theconcept of "Curriculum Integration" was put forward by government and itbecame nationally popular since then. At present, the integration has cometo the stage of concrete operations. Therefore, it becomes more importantto analyze the levels, channels and principles of the integration and to setup the platform of it. The thesis, which is divided into six parts, is intended to approachintegration both theoretically and practically. The first part introduced theconcept of "Curriculum Integration" from its nature and meaning. Thesecond part is about the levels of integration between InformationTechnology and the course of history, mainly includes the instrumentallevel, source level and integrated level. Part Three is about the channels ofintegration, including teaching by means of computers, teaching onInternet and preparation system for history teachers. Part Four is about the ivprinciples that the integration should follow, which includes independentprinciple, enlightening principle, stratum principle, cooperative principleand open principle. Part Five is about the construction of a website forhistory teaching, focusing on the present situations of educational websites,the features and the functions of individual educational websites and theirexisting problems and development. Part Six is about the construction of amanagement platform of history teaching, including the construction of asource bank for teaching, bettering the linking point of integration betweeninformation technology and curriculum teaching; the development ofmulti-media soft wares, realizing humanization of the integration, andencouraging self-taught, constructing the teaching mode based onintegration between information technology and curriculum teaching.
