Information technology has effected in many social fields greatly since its emergence, and it is actively used to achieve varied aims, education is no exception. Technology has played different roles in education from instruction assistant to multimedia and now as the course management platform, which is not only benefited from technical progress, but the development of learning theory also has an impact, particularly with constructivism in the 1990s when teaching and learning began to be organized around learners. Technology and theory has developed to a certain stage, which leads to the birth of course management platform. It has been developed and gradually introduced into universities since then, which can help to break the limitation of time and space in the traditional classroom, extend study to the network, richen its connotation, and promote the transition of learning style. In foreign countries, the platform has been applied widely and produced notable effects. In China, firstly it had been mainly used in the distance education college to meet the needs of distance teaching. As the disadvantages of traditional teaching in classroom gradually appeared, course management platform was introduced into classroom in universities and colleges in order to meet the growing demand for teaching.Currently the researches on the course management platform are concentrated on the development of technology and its applications, hardly on the actual effects. This research adopts the case study and chooses Blackboard (BB) which is largely used in foreign universities as study object. X University has made use of BB since 2005. Now it has owned more than 20,000 users, included over 1,000 courses and accumulated some experienees.-In order to form an overall understanding-of course management platform, this context firstly introduced its emergence, application process, and function in different models. And then through the questionnaire and interview, the survey was conducted among the BB users in order to testify whether BB breaks the limitation of time and space and transmit the learning style.
