Rhetoric teaching is an important part of the rhetorical teaching in junior middle schools. Rhetoric phenomenon in textbooks widely distributed, however, the status of the teaching has been less than ideal. For a better understanding of junior Chinese rhetoric teaching, the author makes the study through the Chinese textbooks published by Shanghai Education Press.The thesis summarizes the development of rhetoric teaching in junior Chinese textbooks and in the Chinese Course Standard of Junior Middle School. The thesis takes the example of junior Chinese textbook of Shanghai education press edition in order to analyze the distribution pattern of the rhetoric phenomenon in it so that we can draw the conclusion that the rhetoric teaching has the defects of disconnection with literary form and limited range of teaching. The author comes up with the solutions to these problems at the end of this thesis.This essay is consisted of the following 5 sections.Section 1(Introduction): Introduce the origin and the meaning of this study briefly. The author’s main ideas and methods of this thesis are included.Section 2(Chapter 2): Analyze the history of rhetoric in Chinese Course Standard of Junior Middle School and in the junior Chinese textbooks to point out the meaning and the function of rhetoric in junior middle school Chinese teaching. The author calculates the rhetoric phenomenon in junior Chinese textbook of Shanghai education press edition to conclude that rhetoric phenomenon is connected tightly with literary form. The author also finds that the frequency of the appearance of 8 frequently used figures of speech is much higher than the other ones and is quite different from each other.Section 3(Chapter 3): Analyze the current condition of rhetoric teaching in Chinese reading skills in junior middle school to reveal the deficiencies. Then the author comes up with the solutions in this section.Section 4(Chapter 4): Learn about the rhetoric teaching in junior Chinese textbooks of Shanghai education press edition using the material of videos of highly-recommended teachers in Shanghai. The author also analyzes the rhetoric-related test questions in the senior high school entrance examination of Shanghai in the past decade.Section 5(Conclusion): Write about the rhetoric teaching of Chinese junior middle school in summary. The author gives her opinion about the development of rhetoric teaching in the future.
