Rhetoric is an important part of language teaching in high school; it is used to improve students’ language skills and language literacy under the practical and test pressures, and highlights its importance. I have engaged in high school language teaching for six years with the long-term teaching practice, I found the speech teaching is highly thought by the college entrance examinations, but the curriculum standards and textbook requirements are vague, lack of orientation, leading to the shortcomings of speech teaching.This paper mainly consists of four parts, the first topic states the value and reason of the research, basing on the object, content, theory and research methods in a clear way, which are summarized in the paper; secondly, the research objects are the teachers and students of number one and number two middle schools of Jinning.During the research process, I analyze its problems and causes using literature method, questionnaire method, and interview method; in terms of the problems mentioned in the investigation I put forward some appropriate teaching methods,teaching principles and the issue which should be paid attention to during the teaching process; finally, the paper reflects on the teaching content of speech,analyzes the problems that exists in the books of PEP high school language teaching materials and proposes teaching recommendations.In the rhetorical teaching of high school, the teachers should consider students’ actual language conditions, explore teaching methods which are practical and with clear aim, so that students can extrapolate in the learning process, use Rhetoric flexibly and fluently, beautify language and improve the ability to use language and appreciation of literary language.
