Self - Disclosure Of Primary School Teachers In Classroom Teaching

The term of self-disclosure was proposed originally by the American humanistic psychologist Sidney·Jourard(1958). Jourard said self-disclosure is that individuals will reveal information about you to the target person. When teacher in classroom use action, oral speech or written words to express any factual information about themselves to students,we call it teacher self-disclosure.If the teacher can actively deal with problems of self-disclosure, they can break through themselves. All of the previous researches on teacher self-disclosure have indicated that teacher self-disclosure is an effective tool to improve teaching effectiveness, to stimulate students ’interest and motivation to improve students’ classroom participation and build a good relationship between teachers and classroom communication environment helps a lot.Based on the theoretical basis of self-disclosure of primary school teachers, I used field observation and interviewing to make a research.Then this study describes the overall situation of primary school teachers in the classroom self-disclosure is in a higher frequency which is in line with the psychological needs of students. Most teachers agree the positive impact of teachers’ self-disclosure, and be able to do teaching reflection different degrees. And influencing factors are also reflected in this study. Gender, grade, subject, seniority, age and mental health will affect their self-disclosure behavior. What’s more, teachers’ theory and practice sometimes diverged. By analyzing the present situation of primary school teachers self-disclosure,this study proposes some proposal for teachers and schools. Teachers should improve their literacy to lay the foundation of self-disclosure; grasp teacher self-disclosure skills; change the traditional ideas. School should develop training and expanded platform kit for strengthening teacher self-disclosure practices.
