For many years, a lot of scholars have done valuable discussions from the aspects of social environment, family, school and media when concerning the micro-social factors of juvenile delinquency. Family is the cell and the basic organizational form of human society. Poor family environment and education has a direct impact on the physical and mental health of young generation.Family is children’s first school. A person has been living and growing up in family—this particular social environment ever since the birth, so the family is the first place and most important place for a person to be socialized. Many different factors may lead to juvenile delinquency, among which improper family education, inferior parental moral quality and variation in marriage and family have the greatest impact on juvenile delinquency. A lot of practice has proved that the defects of family education, adverse effects of family environment are the crucial elements leading to juvenile delinquency and should not be overlooked. In this regard, the thesis will discuss this issue in the following four parts.The first part describes the definition of juvenile delinquency and characteristics in Shanghai. This section aims to provide a knowledge background and technological platform for the whole thesis. By introducing the definition and characteristics of juvenile delinquency, specifying the scope and object, and summing up the characteristics of juvenile delinquency in general, the thesis analyzes the causes of juvenile delinquency, determines family education as a study focus of the thesis and lays a solid foundation for the following parts.The second part analyzes the significance of prevention of juvenile delinquency. This section first describes the main relationship between family education background and juvenile delinquency. With concrete examples, this part classifies education background on the basis of journals and references and points out their mistakes to further prove the negative impact of poor family education on young people. It reflects how important the family education is in the prevention of juvenile delinquency and so as to continue the following part.Based on the previous parts, the third part introduces theories concerning family elements in prevention of juvenile delinquency at home and abroad, thus provides a theoretical basis for the further study.Part four illustrates the family element on prevention of juvenile delinquency. The detailed analysis of family elements in the previous parts should finally apply in the reality. By analyzing real cases, this part studies different kinds of positive family elements to try to propose some measures and methods to prevent juvenile delinquency through family elements.The last part summarizes the whole thesis, emphasizes the importance of family elements of juvenile delinquency and more importantly, realizes that family is a crucial factor on prevention of juvenile delinquency. According to this, by learning and studying others’ practice and theories, the thesis aims to reflect the idea of "advice from others may help one overcome one’s shortcomings" and contribute in this study field.
