On Bakhtin Carnival Of The Ideological And Literary Significance

Bahkin is an outstanding thinker, philosopher, history and cultural expert, expert on folklore, expert and critic on literature theory of the former Soviet Union. In the field of literary theory, he put forward the Dialogism, the theory of polyphonic novels, the Carnival theory and so on. He developed a school of his own on how to learn and understand literature and in this way, he gave human thought a new insight and did a great deal of contributions to the humanities. So he was acclaimed as the most important thinker and theoretician in humanities of the 20th century.This thesis discusses Bahkin's poem theory of carnivalization from the three following aspects: firstly, carnivalization and the novel style, points out the close connection between the development of the style of the carnival theory and the folk literature on the Carnival. Secondly, states three key concepts: the carnival, the carnival ceremonies and the carnivalization, points out the carnivalization of literature derived from the celebrations of the carnival which could trace back to offering sacrifices to Bacchus in ancient Greece or even earlier activities. The carnival folklore congealing profound cultural inheritance has not only the unique external characteristics but also the internal characteristics with profound meanings. Thirdly, carnivalization and dialogue, points out that dialogue is the mode of human existence. Based on this, this thesis emphatically explains the significance of literature and art of Bahkin's poem theory of carnivalization and especially the positive significance it produced on the current development of the literature and art: firstly, the poem theory of carnivalization overthrew the traditional way of thinking of the literature and art and provided people with a brand-new way to artistically grasp the world and life. Secondly, the poem theory of carnivalization reflected a brand-new literature conception—an aesthetic discourse style to continually produce new connotations of thoughts and feelings and completely new life experience. Thirdly, the poem theory of carnivalization put forward a special aesthetic idea - "Weird Realism" and pointed out that weirdness is a basic attribute of literature. Fourthly, as to Rabelais' study, his proposition was to combine the study of the literary works with the literary and historical methods, which would provide a methodology so as to set up a firm connection between literature and culture.
