Migrant population not only contributes to the development of big cities but also challenges both education and health care system in which cities they flood into. Compared with children with local hukou,health status of migrtant children are poor. Meanwhile utilization of health care service is low.One of the methods to provide impartial,accessible and effective health care for migrant children is to estabolish a capable health care system to replace the current system which merely allocates resource by the needs of local children.GoalTo understand the framework of health care system in project areas and to detect the health status and needs of health care of migrant children in project areas.Objestive(?) To understand the health status of migrant children under 5-years-old in project areas.(?) To mesure the utilization of health care and the needs of health care of migrant children in project areas.(?) To detect the health resource in project areas.(?) To understand the health polioy in project areas.Research methodsBoth quantitative and qualitative research methods were employed in this research,。(?) Quantitative researchTwo kinds of quenstionnaires were distributed.One is for the keeper of migrant children to obtain the health status and needs of health care.The other is for the health care agencies to understand the framework of health care system in project areas.(?) Qualitative researchLiterature review was used to select key indicators concerning heath status and needs of health care of migrant children.Group discussions of health care professionals were hold to obtain the suggestions on modification of health care system. Result and conclusion1.Characteristics of migtant childrenMigrant children investigated were from migrant families with lower education, poorer economic status and social insurance.2.Utiliization and needs of health care of migrant childrenCompared with local children,health status of migrant children are poor due to lacking health knowledge and unaccesibility of health care services.Utilization of health care of migrant children is poor in spite of the strong needs towards health care.3,disadvantages of local health care system.The thre-layers health care system is suffering the shortage of human resources and the unefficiency of health information system.Suggestion and recommendation1.Develop guildline on health care for migtant children to guarantee the basic health care for migrant children.2.Provide child' s health care via multi-channels to improve the coverage of health care for migrant children.3.Encourage migrant population to receive health care automatically by conducting health promotion activities.4.Advocate multi-sectors cooperation to develop an effective health information system which is capable to obtain informantion of migrant children.Research merit1.Sufficient information on health status,needs of health care of migrant children, understanding of the framework of health care system in project areas provide evidence for the modification of the health care model.Meantime this survey provides data for the comparison with final evaluation.of the project.2.Multi-sectors involved in the survey are the potential cooperation parteners of the new health care model.3.The survey was welcomed by the migrant population knowing that this project is for their profit.
