Objective:Summarizing the treatment experience that Professor Jingsheng Liu cured lumbar disc herniation(LDH) of senile with vertebral lamina fenestration surgery.Method:Retrospectively analyzing the treatment of vetebral lamina fenestration from January 2004 to January 2008 such as clinical manifestations, pathological features, surgical experience and treatment of senile LDH patients that are over 60 years old.Following up 33 cases, and the average follow-up is evaluated by JOA.Result:Combined different senile disease 18cases,and occuping 54.5%of all cases. There are 9casesabout thelesion above Second S-T segment S-T,accounting for 27.3%.Combined hypertrophy of ligamentum flavum, cohesive facet hypertrophy, and lateral recess stenosis 33cases,100%.Excellent cases are66.7%, good-standing cases are24.2%,fair cases are accounted for 0%and failed ones occupy0%.Conclusion:The majority of senile lumbar disc herniation(LDH) registers as multi-segmental spinal stenosis;the treatment of peri-operative senile disease is the basis for successful operation;enlarging lateral recess and excising intercalated disc are equally important during the operation;the curative effect is prominent to treat lumbar disc herniation in elderly with multi-segmental vertebral lamina fenestration surgery, which does not affect lumbar stabilization.
