Radix Polygalae is the root peels of a Polygala tenuifolia family perennial herb Polygala tenuifolia Wild or ovum leaf Polygala sibirica.It is stated from《shen nong ben cao jing》,and it is considered as the key medicine which raises the life.it can benefit intelligence,calm the nerves and have function of reducing phlegm etc.and it can used in much dreams of insomnia, palpitate,etc.Consulting successive dynasties herbal monograph,there is not recordation about its poison,but forefathers find it has side effect of "throat".It takes the bad reaction of intestines and stomach,often causing nausea,vomitting etc.Objective:Earlier researches show that the toxicity of miyuanzhi and side effects to the intestines and stomach is smaller and its drug effects of various fields have not been influenced.Topic team also find that the toxicity of miyuanzhi is lower,inhibition to intestines and stomach is smaller.and the main element of shengyuanzhi is saponin,its toxic reaction is in the gastrointestinal tract.According to this basis,we study further to the gastrointestinal motility and its mechanism,etc of shengyuanzhi,saponin and miyuanzhi.methods:use helianthin to research gastric emptying;use carbo medicinalis to research small intestine's motion;and use biologic function analyzer to observe and record the electrophysiology and ex-vivo intestine's movement experiment.results:sheng yuanzhi and its saponin can obviously inhibit gastrointestinal motility,they inhibit stomach intestine electrophysiology activity,they both inhibit stomach intestine's slow wave and fasy wave;shengyuanzhi and its saponin can inhibit the ex vivo intestine's movement to the domestic rabbit.conclusion:â‘ sheng yuanzhi and its saponin can remarkably inhibit gastrointestinal movement,appearanced with stomach intestine's dyskinesia;â‘¡the mechanism of sheng yuanzhi and its saponin influence the stomach intestine electrophysiology activity is appearanced with inhibition of the BER and the action potential.â‘¢the mechanism of intestine is related with two factors,the one is shengyuanzhi and its saponin compete with Ach and Histamine and block M,H₁ receptor,the next is direct inhibition of ex vivo intestine excitability,and the inhibitory action is inreversible.â‘£Miyuanzhi can obviously release the stomach intestine's dyskinesia.Miyuanzhi is safer than shengyuanzhi in clinic.
