| Object:Hypertension is acommon disease.Once diagnosed,patients has to take drugs regularly for a lifetime in order to keep blood pressure stable.Hypertension drugs has its limits,for example its adverse effect.Also from the economic point of view it is a burden to the patient.Therefore our study observed three different groups of TCM ear acupressure on hypertension as well as pre-hypertension patients. All patients were diagnosed from physical examination and without the interference of any kind of pills or treatment.Our study tried from the non-pharmaceutical point to control blood pressure,also from the economic point to save medical expanses.As well as from the treating pre-illness point to discover and control hypertension before it advances.Currently,there are many reports on TCM acupressure to lower blood pressure,therefore ours study designed two groups ofacupressure as well as a placebo group.Then strictly observe the effect different groups has on blood pressureMethods:Our study is strictly randomized and has contrast groups.Also strictly followed diagnose and intake standards.Group dividing is according to the time which test subjects come and using randomized number charts,A total of 150 subjects were observed.Sixty patients in the treatment and contrast group.Thirty in the placebo group.Study started from August,2007 till April,2008.Subjects came from Shandong Liaocheng Physical Examination Center,Fuzhou City Physical Examination Center,and Beijing Chaoyang District Shenggubeili Community Health Station.Our study was totally free.Due to the unconvinience of hypertension pills and its cost,many patients wished to participate.However, thruly explanation before entering study groups was told to patients in order for patients to strictly follow the observation dates and requirements.Afterwards,on a self-willing basis,the patient can join the study.A booklet of hypertension knowledge and a daily self recording blood pressre sheet was given to the patient.Patients were randomized divided into three groups.Three groups had the same points(Heart,Liver,Kidney,Shenmen,Jiangyagou).Treatment group applied ear acupressure with wangbuliuxing seeds.Contrast group applied ear acupressure without seeds.Placebo group applied medical bandages with hint of medical effect.All three groups measured blood pressure ten minutes after interference.Patients were told to apply pressure on ear points 5 to 10 minutes,3 to 5 times a day except the placebo group.Blood pressure was measured at one week,two week,three week,and four week after applying interference.Results:The overall effect of treatment and contrast groups were 91.67%,and 66.3%for the placebo group.This proves the point we chose and the medical bandages had effect.The reason for the effect might be 1)mentally effect 2)bandage 3)points.Contrast group added pressure on points therefore increased the effect.Treatment group's obvious effect was 65%higher than the contrast group's 46.7%,meaning the applying of seeds further increase the effect.Ear acupressure with seeds therapy combined the different methods of points,mental and pressure effects,therefore came out with the best effect.Treatment and contrast groups all had effect after 10 minutes of pressuring,which tells us ear acupressure had instant effect. Treatment group's after interference ten minutes average pressure was 139.03±16.36/91.63±11.12,at the fourth week was 134.47±15.67/88.28±10.85.This proved the therapy will only lower pressure to a certain degree.During the observation period,blood pressure was stably controlled without raising back up.Ear acupressure therapy has a wide variety of use.There was no difference in effect for different sex,age and blood pressure grade (P＞0.05).This therapy doesn't need the differentiating of TCM and has effect on all.Conclusion:Ear acupressure with seeds therapy combined the different methods of points,mental and pressure effects,therefore came out with the best effect.Ear acupressure therapy has an instant and maximum effect.It stably controls blood pressre controlling pressure stable from instant to week 4.Ear acupressure therapy has a wide variety of use.There was no difference in effect for different sex,age and blood pressure grade. This therapy doesn't need the differentiating of TCM and has effect on all.
