| The concept of "Return to nature" and sustainable development has gradually won the wide recognition of the world which leads to the boom of the "Green trend".Meanwhile, natural medicines have become one of the hottest investigations of researchers from various nations. However, most of the natural medicines, which are always the black complicated analytical systems, produce the healing efficacy by the synergic action of many chemical components. Therefore, studies on the bioactive components in natural medicines are the prerequisite of the standardization and quantification of manufacturing technique, modernization of quality control and explicit characterization of chemical substance. With a view to resolve the problems in the analysis of essential oils from natural medicines,on one hand, chemometric techniques are employed to the qualification and quantification of chemical components of natural medicines; On the other hand, the quality evaluation standard should be established by fingerprint and chemical pattern recognition method. In the second chapter, the characterization of fatty acids in seven plant seeds oil like grape seed oil, pumpkin seed oil and passionfruit seed oil was investigated by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS) analysis and derivatization method, while the quantitative analysis of linoleic acid andα-linolenic acid was also processed, and a quick, accurate and convenient characterization and quantification of fatty acids in plant seed oil has been established in this chapter. The classification methods of natural medicines differ from the purpose and emphasis. For example, they can be classfied by sibship or by pharmic function, and the same species have many similarities in the chemical components and pharmacological efficacy. In the third chapter, comparative analysis of essential oils from eihgt herbal medicines with pungent flavor and cool nature, like mint,Flos Chrysanthemi,Herba Menthae,Bupleurum chinense D.C etc.,was carried out by chemometric techniques and temperature-programmed retention index method which can be applied to the qualitative analysis of complicated system. Meanwhile,by comparing the differences and similarities of chemical components, the reason why they are classified into pungent herb medicine was explained for the first time, and some proof has been provided for the pharmacological study of pungent herb medicine. In the fourth chapter, the comparative analysis of the essential oils from six Clematis species plants has been investigated by GC-MS and the chemometric techniques in order to obtain the full information of chemical components and reveal the regularity of the volatile components from Clematis species plants and exploit the pharmacological value of Clematis species plants. When the full information of chemical components from natural medicines was known, the quality evaluation standard of the natural medicines can be set up by fingerprint and chemical pattern recognition method. In the fifth chapter, the major compounds in the essential oils from Clematis chinensis Osbeck were identified by GC-MS and the fingerprints of the 24 samples were obtained and studied.A chemical pattern recognition method was constructed by using Principal Component Analysis(PCA)and K-means Clustering Method and the fingerprint chemical pattern of major Clematis chinensis Osbeck was established, while the identification and quality control of the volatile part of Clematis chinensis Osbeck can be processed in this way. |
