Objective:To observe the clinical therapeutic effect of the treatment to lumbar disc herniation with warming acupuncture and moxibustion and its influence on hemorheology and the interleukin-6 content in peripheral blood of lumbar disc herniation patient. Besides, contrast the therapeutic effect of common acupuncture with warming acupuncture and moxibustion.finally, to discuss the sanative mechanism of the treatment to lumbar disc herniation with warming acupuncture and moxibustion.Methods:60 cases of lumbar disc herniation patient according with the standard were randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group ,30 in each, and the two groups had the comparability in aspect of sex, age, course of disease, clinical symptom, physical sign and so on.Warming acupuncture and moxibustion therapy was used in the treatment group ,and common acupuncture therapy was used in the control group.Observed the changes of the total scores of symptoms (including the grades of main symptom, physical signs and activity of daily living), index of pain grades, hemorheology (mainly observe highshear viscosity of whole blood, lowshear viscosity of whole blood, rigidity exponent of red blood cell, hematocrit and aggregation exponent of red blood cell etc. )and the interleukin-6 content in peripheral blood before the treatment and after two treatment courses. Moreover, compared the therapeutic effect of the two groups.Results:(1) In the respect of changing the total scores of symptoms, the data of the treatment group reduced obviously after two treatment courses. As compared with the data before treatment,it had a very significant difference (P<0.01) .The data of the control group reduced after two treatment courses. As compared with the data before treatment,it had a significant difference (P<0.05 ) .On the comparison between the two groups, the data of the treatment group reduced more obviously, and the two groups had a significant difference (P<0.05 ) .(2)In the respect of changing the index of pain grades, both the data of the two groups decreased after two treatment courses. As compared with the data before treatment respectively, both had a very significant difference (P<0.01) .On the comparison between the two groups, the data of the treatment group decreased more obviously, and the two groups had a significant difference (P<0.05 ) . (3 ) In the respect of changing hemorheology, the highshear viscosity of whole blood, lowshear viscosity of whole blood and aggregation exponent of red blood cell of the two group reduced after two theatment courses. As compared with the data before treatment respectively, both had a significant difference(P<0.05 ).On the comparison between the two groups, the data of the treatment group decreased more obviously, and the two groups had a significant difference(P<0.05 ) .However, rigidity exponent of red blood cell and Hematocrit of the two group decreased unconspicuously. As compared with the data before treatment respectively, both had no significant difference (P > 0.05) ,and on the comparison between the two groups, the data of the two group had no significant difference too (P > 0.05 ). (4) In the respect of changing the interleukin-6 content in peripheral blood, the data of the treatment group reduced obviously after two theatment courses. As compared with the data before treatment,it had a very significant difference (P<0.01). The data of the control group reduced after two theatment courses. As compared with the data before treatment,it had a significant difference (P<0.05 ) . On the comparison between the two groups, the data of the treatment group reduced more obviously, and the two groups had a very significant difference (P<0.01) . (5) In the respect of comprehensive therapeutic effect,_the rate of the obvious effect number plus the cured number in treatment group was 70%,and the rate of the control group was 33.33%.The comparison between the two groups had a significant difference(P<0.05). Conclusion:(1) Both the wanning acupuncture and moxibustion and the common acupuncture therapy can well improve the main symptom, physical signs and activity of daily living, and the former is better than the latter in this respect. (2) Both the warming acupuncture and moxibustion and the common acupuncture therapy can work well in analgesia, and the former is better than the latter in this respect. (3 ) Both the warming acupuncture and moxibustion and the common acupuncture therapy can change the part item of hemorheology, and the effect of the former is more obvious. (4) Both the warming acupuncture and moxibustion and the common acupuncture therapy can ,to a great extent, change the interleukin-6 content in peripheral blood, and the effect of the former is more obvious. (5) Both the warming acupuncture and moxibustion and the common acupuncture therapy can obtain good comprehensive therapeutic effect, and the effect of the former is more obvious. In a word,it showed that the warming acupuncture and moxibustion has a exact therapeutic effect to lumbar disc herniation, and it is better than the common acupuncture therapy, which has a statistical significance. The obvious change of the part item of hemorheology and the interleukin-6 content in peripheral blood suggests that the sanative mechanism of the treatment to lumbar disc herniation with warming acupuncture and moxibustion is relevant to it. The mechanism is probably that by collaborative working between acupuncture and moxibustion,it can well improve the the flow status of the blood in whole body, regional microcirculation and the metabolism of tissue, and reduce the substance,interleukin-6,which cause the phlogosis and pain around the nerve root, thus the stimulus to nerve root and the oedema of surrounding tissue are alleviated.
