Studies On Chemical Constituents Of Astragalus Membranaceus

Astragalus membranceus (Fisch.) Bge, one species of Asrtagalua genus, which belongs to Family Leguminosae, The root of A. membranceus, named as Huangqi In China, is the most important tonic in the Traditional Chinese Medicine, and to promote the discharge of pus and the growth of new tissue. It has long been used as an anti-perspirant, adiuretic of atonic, and it has been recorded in many Chinese Herb books. The author of the paper has studied the constituents of A. membranceus genus.From the root of Astragalus membranceus (Fisch.) Bge, fifteen compounds were isolated by solvent and chromatography methods, thirteen structures of theses compouds were identified, which include 8 Astragaloside derivatives, 3 Lignan glycosides, isoflavan glycosides and others compounds. Compounds 6, 8, 9, 12, 13 were new, one compound 10 was isolated from Astragalus genus for the first time.
