As a promising analysis technique, NIRS has been greatly developed during the past thirty years. Because of its many advantages, such as fast, simple sample preparation, multicomponents analysis simultaneously, non-destructive and environmentally friendly and so on, NIRS has made lots of pharmaceutical analysts put their hearts in it, its widely prospect in this field is attractive. In this paper, the digestive system drugs, norflocaxin capsules from different manufacturers and Chinese drugs of pulvis fellis ursi and scutellaria were used as examples for the study on how to build a quantitative or qualitative model for quick analysis, and to forecast the content of the principal component in patent medicineand Chinese traditional medicine and evaluate the quality. For NIRS qualitative analysis, NIRS qualitative model of the digestive systemdrugs was set up on the basis of selective criteria for calibration sample sets, choice of spectral regions, data pre-treatments and proper threshold settings to effectively differentiate products. The tablets of spironolactone, dopmeridone, inositol nicotinate, famotidine, cimetidine, glucurolactone, pepsin were classified and distinquished by the model. the model was verificated by samples, the correct rate of which was 100%.For NIRS quantitative analysis, three quantitative models were built. They were three quantitative models of norflocaxin capsules from different manufacturers, the bi-component quantitative models of pulvis fellis ursi and the quantitative model of scutellaria. The selectivity and accuracy were studied. And the models were used to predict the actual content of unknown samples and the RD of the results were in 5%.Our results have shown that it is feasible to analyze unbrokenly, quantitatively and qualitatively on patent medicine and Chinese traditional medicine by using NIRS.
