Shanxi Medical University, Seven-year Medical Students The Quality Of Life And Its Influencing Factors

Objective To investigate the status of the quality of life and its factors of seven-year students in Shanxi Medical University and to provide scientific bases for formulating policies to improve their quality of life.Methods Seven-year students from 2000 to 2005 grade in Shanxi Medical University were assessed with WHO-QOL-BREF and questionnaire of sociological factors.Then the quality of life state was studied and corresponding related factors were analyzed using multiple linear regression.Results We got 575 validated from 593 questionnaires with answering rate 96.96%.The mean scores in four domains of QOL of seven-year students in Shanxi Medical University were 14.39±2.19(biological area),13.82±2.38(physiological area),14.05±2.59(social area)and 12.19±2.24(environmental area),respectively.The mean score of biological area was statistically lower than the normal ranges and no statistically significant differences were found for the other three scores.501(87.3%)students had 'average','good' or 'pretty good' feelings of their own quality of life.455(79.4%)students had 'average','good' or 'pretty good' feelings of their own health state.The mean score of own judgment of quality of life was 76.80±12.04 with minimum 25 and maximum 100.Based on multiple linear regression analysis,the ranked factors from strong to weak correlated with physical domain were appetite,pressure of study or task, family dispute,sports of every week,grade,illness,satisfaction of his/her major,students score, hobbies and satisfaction of school environment.The ranked factors from strong to weak correlated with psychological domain were appetite,satisfaction of achievement and scientific research,satisfaction of his/her major,hobbies,foreground of obtain employment,family dispute, type of character and illness.The ranked factors from strong to weak correlated with social domain were appetite,satisfaction of achievement and scientific research,hobbies,satisfaction of his/her major,the type of character and grade.The ranked factors from strong to weak correlated with environmental domain were satisfaction of school environment,appetite, satisfaction of information,satisfaction of achievement,scientific research,educational level of mother,students score,the only child and pressure of study or task.Conclusion The status of QOL of seven-year student in Shanxi Medical University was better and it was related with appetite,satisfaction of achievement and scientific research,satisfaction of his/her major,hobbies,family dispute,pressure of study or task,grade,illness,the students score,satisfaction of school environment and type of character,...
