The paper mainly describes the studies on the chemical constituents of the leaves from Jatropha curcas L. in Guizhou province and the roots from Clerodenrum bungei Steud in Yunnan province. Jatropha curcas L. belongs to the family Euphorbiaceae, and Clerodenrum bungei Steud belongs to the family Clorodendrum Linn. From the leaves of Jatropha curcas L., nine compounds were obtained and six compounds were elucidated as benzoic acid(MY-1), oleanolic acid(MY-2), daucosterol (MY-4), cosmosiin(MY-6), vitenxin(MY-8), and vitenxin rhamnoside(MY-9). In addition, five compounds benzoic acid, oleanolic acid, daucosterol, cosmosiin and vitenxin rhamnoside were isolated from the leaves of Jatropha curcas L. for the first time. From the roots of Clerodenrum bungei Steud, six compounds were obtained by means of silica gel column chromatography. Five compounds were confirmed by chemical and spectroscopic methods as oleie acid(CMD-1), stearic acid(CMD-2), friedlin(CMD-3), bungesterol(CMD-4) and docosaned(CMD-5), respectively. Two compounds oleic acid and docosaned were isolated from Clerodenrum bungei Steud for the first time.
