Objectives: 1) To explore and determine the clinical curativeeffectiveness of Warming Needle Therapy in achieving fast relieving pain ofcalcaneodynia. 2) In recent years, calcaneodynia has gradually become afocus issue, yet few researches have been done in Singapore. Thus throughsmall sampling clinical research,â… wish to provide later researcher aclinical datum and reference of calcaneodynia in Singapore. 3) helping elderlypatient in reducing family expenses through an effective and economictreatment; and by helping calcaneodynia patient to relieve heel pain andreduce relapse in order to let them be able to continue to contribute towardssociety.Method:Through random comparing research methodology, by means of observingamelioration in level of pain and functionality as main observing indexes, using VAS pain rating and clinical symptom scoring methodology asevaluation, 60 cases of calcaneodynia patients were randomly divided intoTherapeutic group and Control group. Each group consist of 30 cases,Therapeutic group uses warming needle therapy where needles inserted arewarm up by lighted dry moxa punk; where else the Control group usesacupuncture therapy, both group uses the same acu-point, and treatment willbe done on alternate day basis last 20min per treatment, evaluation oftreatment will be done after 3rd treatment. This research was based on 60cases of outpatients of TCM Clinic in Singapore. Therapeutic group consistsof 10 males and 20 females, youngest age 34 and eldest age 65, with anaverage age of 49.33 and shortest duration of sickness was two weeks whereelse the longest duration of sickness was 5 month. The control group consistsof 9 males and 21 females, youngest age 34 and eldest age 59 with an averageage of 47.50 and the shortest duration of sickness was 2 weeks where else thelongest duration of sickness was 4 months. They all met the TCM diagnosiscriterion. This research categorize age into two group<50yrs old and≥50yrs old, comparison of prior and post treatment between groups will be done. Weevaluated and compared the curative effect of treatment between the twogroups based on the relative data.Result: â‘ Overall curative effect: Therapeutic group of 29 cases clinicallyrecovered 5 cases, excellence 19 cases, effective 3 cases, ineffective 2cases, overall effective rated 93.1%. control group of 28 cases clinicallyrecovered 3 cases, excellence 12 cases, effective 5 cases, ineffective 8cases, overall effective rate 71.4%. Therapeutic group has a higher overalleffective rate than control group which indicates warming needle therapy hasa better curative effect in treating calcaneodynia than purely acupuncture.â‘¡VAS: Both group VAS pain rating mean score before and after treatmenthad a significant lower mean score, where P=0.000, P<0.01, show that bothgroup has statistical value. Therapeutic group is better than Control groupin amelioration of VAS Pain rating. Therapeutic group show great ameliorationin curative effect of pain relieving with patient age≥50 when compare withControl group.â‘¢Clinical symptom scoring: Both group clinical symptom mean score beforeand after treatment show significant lower mean score, where P=0.000, P<0.01,indicates that both group with different therapy has good effect forcalcaneodynia patient, But warming needle therapy show great ameliorationin clinical symptom with patient age≥50 when compare to acupuncture therapy. Conclusion:Both treatment for calcaneodynia are effective, but warming needletherapy show much better clinical therapeutic effect, especially towardelderly patients where it shows bigger amplitude of good effect. |
