Li-fa Recipe Study Of Renal Edema

Objective: To study the mechanisms of nephritic edema (NE) and effect of treatment of tonifying kidney, clearing (heat) and draining (damp), activating blood on NE.Methods: Theory study and clinical investigation were involed in this study. Selecting and analyzing classic and morden articles were the main methods of theory study. In clinical investigation, professor Sun's experience on the treatment of PCGN was summarized first. Then 42 patients diagnosised as nephritic edema who were treated by tonifying kidney and spleen, clearing and draining, activating blood were involved. Their changes of syndrome pattern, edema scores, urinary and blood lab datas were recorded and analyzed.Results: Kidney and spleen insufficiency, damp (heat) and blood stasis were the main mechanisms of NE. So tonifying kidney and spleen, clearing (heat) and draining (damp), activating blood were the main methods of treatment on nephritic edema. The short-term efficiencies of NE (3 months) was 83.3%. Patients' symptom scores were reduced significantly compared with initial level (P<0.01). Proteinuria was decreased significantly (P<0.05) But there was no significant change in hematuria (P>0.05). The treatment could stabilize the level of Scr. (P>0.05).Conclusion: Treatment of tonifying kidney and spleen, clearing (heat) and draining (damp), activating blood could relieve the discomfortable symptoms, improve quality of life, reduce proteinuria, maintain the renal function.
