| Objective:To explore the etiology, pathogenesis and treatment principles of the Qing Re Hua Shi method in treating acute gastralgia, in consideration of Singapore's weather condition (hot and humid), as well as the change from people's dieting habit. The mode of study will be carried out though (1) treating the patient with the appropriate Chinese herbal and observed the clinical effects; (2) research from the passed literature and documents of the similar patients. Methods: 60 cases of acute abdominal pain were divided into two groups randomly.1. The treatment group ( 30 cases ) was treated with formulated Qing Re Hua Shi oral granula subtilae; and2. The control group ( 30 cases ) treated with Bao He Wan oral granula subtilae. Both groups were treated orally for three times a day, one in the morning, one in the afternoon and other in the evening. The duration of the treatment for both groups was a total of 3 days. The clinical effects and results were observed during and after the course of treatment.Clinical Effects and Results:1. The treatment group: 21 cases recovered; 5 cases significantly improved, 4cases show signs of improvement. The total effective rate in the treatment group is 100%.2. The control group: 4 cases recovered; 7 cases significantly improved, 15 cases show signs of improvement, 4 ineffective cases. The total effective rate in the control group is 86.7%.There was statistically significant difference in the total effective rate between the treatment group and control group (P<0.01). The effective rate from the treatment group is clearly superior. The scores from the treatment group clearly decreased at the end of three days (25.40±6.328 pretreatment vs 2.23±2.31 post-treatment, P<0.01). Judging by the rate of symptomatic improvement in the treatment group, the figures indicate that there is a significant improvement to the symptoms after the three days of treatment. The symptom-free percentage of abdominal fullness with pain, nausea or vomiting, belching and regurgitation is above 80%, and the symptom-free percentage of abdominal flatulence, pre-meal gastralgia, after-meal gastralgia, decreased nutritional intake, heaviness of the body with lassitude , foul-smelling stools, red tongue with greasy yellow fur, slippery and rapid pulse is also above 50%. After the treatment of the sickness from both Treatment group and Control group, the results of the symptoms has showed obvious improvement, however the results from the Treatment group compared to the Control group is more significantConclusion:Although there are lots of different factors that trigger this sickness, but the actual cause of this sickness is due to the combination of environmental or external causes and internal body causes such as humidity and'heatiness'of our internal system. Based on the studies, using the'Qin Re Hua Shi'method is more effective to treat this sickness especially in ASEAN countries where the climate are more hot and humid. |
