PURPOSE: Investigate expression of RasP21 in Cystitis glandularis(CG) and bladder primary tumor to research whether CG is one of premalignant lesion and which subtype has much more malignant potential. METHODS: Immunohistochemistry were used to demonstrate the expression of RasP21 in 60 cases of CG and Bladder Transitional cell Carcinoma (BTCC) and 11 cases of bladder adenocarcinoma and 10 cases normal bladder tissue. RESULTS: Normal transitional epithelioid cells were demonstrated negative for RasP21. Among the CG there were 17 cases tested positive, the rate of expression was 28.33%(17/60),especially that of the intestinal subtype was 6 in 14( 42.86%). Among the BTCC there were 22 cases tested positive for RasP21, about 36.67%(22/60),and 6 cases were tested positive in bladder adenocarcinoma, about 54.54%. RasP21-positive expression among four groups was demonstrated statistic meaning(p<0.05),there is to said ,the strength of expression increased in turns. The strength of expression decreased after Gâ… or Tis-T1 stage in BTCC(p<0.05). There were no differential expression among the intestinal subtype CG,BTCC and bladder adenocarcinoma(p>0.05). CONCLUTION: Cystitis glandularis may be a premalignant lesion in bladder, especially the intestinal subtype CG. The RasP21-positive CG should have a regular followed-up for early detection of bladder cancer. |
