| Diabetic depression refers to the onset of depression after being diagnosed with diabetes, it is a secondary disease. The main symptoms are losing desires, slower mind, losing appetite, easily agitate, severe depression, the intention of suicide even occurs. Diabetic depression can directly affect on the patient's quality of life, worsened the symptoms in diabetic patients, delay the recovery time, it can even affect people on their physical and psychological stability, social interests, working ability and body activity. In recent years, the occurrence of diabetes patients has gradually increased, and diabetic depression populations are also increased every year. At present, the treatment for diabetic depression is anti-depression medication in western medicine, which has serious side effects and costs much. Patients under such medication usually find it difficult to continue. In TCM theory, treating the symptoms with medications, and fewer side effects, has its great advantage. Therefore, according to TCM theory for disease cause and pathogenesis, to sum up and to probe into the treating method and principle, and to observe the clinical experiment, becomes relevant that we find out how to treat diabetic depression. This study has based on all the old and new information about depression, combine the characteristic feature of disease cause and pathogenesis on diabetic depression, for the clinical experiment observation on Xiao Ke Jie Yu Decoction for treating diabetic depression, on the aimed at expatiating on the advantages of treating diabetic depression with traditional Chinese medicine while displaying the promising future of treatment with traditional Chinese medicine. According to the clinical observation, we find out that the disease cause and pathogenesis on diabetic depression in TCM theory are consumption of yin-fluid, excess dry-heat, impairment of body fluid and qi was due to the deficiency of qi and yin; furthermore, in result the occurrence of the disorder of qi activity, stagnation of blood flow, collateral blocked, longer to recover, weaker primary qi, the deficiency in kidney and blood stagnation, can't nourish the brain, cause the depression. Treating the symptom with reinforcing qi and replenishing yin, release depression and anchoring mind, reinforce kidney and promote blood circulation, has a better curative effects in clinical observation. This study has selected 70 diabetic depression cases which diagnosed with deficiency in kidney and blood stagnation. Using the random and comparison method has created Xiao Ke Jie Yu Decoction treating group, and Prozac treating group. At the same time, all groups were given basic routine treatment (including anti-diabetic medication, diet control, basic knowledge on diabetes). Patients were observed according to their symptoms and SDS standard. Results showed that the total effective rate on TCM group is 80.00%. The total effective rate on control group is 71.88%, the comparison of the treatment group and the control group has no significant difference; before the treatment, the points of SDS standard for treatment group is 52.12±6.18, after the treatment the point is 33.32±5.86. the comparison of before and after treatment has great difference (P<0.01); before the treatment, the points of SDS standard for control group is 51.81±5.34, after the treatment the point is 35.71±6.20. the comparison of before and after treatment has no significant change(P >0.05).However,in TCM theory for the treatment group of six symptoms,such as worry,sorrow,insomnia,debility,rapid heartbit,lower backtain,dry mouth are better than the control group.Especially for the symptoms of insomnia had a great improvement.After the treatment,two groups had a great difference(P<0.01).The result of this study evidently shows that treatment of diabetic depression with Xiao Ke Jie Yu Decoction has great effectiveness. |
