This article includes two part, the first part reviewed the headway of lumber intervertebral disc prolapse research up to now, including the pathogeny , etiology ,diagnose, therapeutics and typology, and had a systematical analysis on it ,especially presented a deep discussion about the Chinese traditional medicine therapeutics and the traction therapeutics.The second part is clinical research. Objective : to investigate the curative effect of the Chinese traditional medicine ,and try to find out the effective therapeutics of LIDP. Methods: 35 hospitalers of LIDP were divided into two groups ,20 patients were treated by Chinese traditional medicine ,pelvis traction and physical therapy ,15 patients ,as the control group ,were treated by pelvis traction and physical therapy only ,all the patients were required to keep the bed absolutely .Result:The general scores after treatment of two groups had significant difference, the scores of the treatment group were higher than the control group (p<0.05), the improvement rate of the scores between before treatment and after treatment of the two groups had highly remarkable difference (p<0. 01) , the treatment group was (79.8 + 9. 6) %, but the control group was (69.7 9. 5) %,and the total clinical effective rate of the former was 100%, but the latter was 93.3%. Conclusion: Chinese traditional medicine therapeutics is a effective non-surgical therapeutics of LIDP , the non-surgical therapeutics of LIDP should use synthetical therapeutics, including Chinese traditional medicine, traction ,physical therapy ,modern medicine and so on .
