Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) is a kind of common and recurrent disease in clinic. Professor Yang Zhaogang has been engaged in the work of clinical activities and teaching for more than 30 years. He accumulated abundant theories and clinical experience. Awn-needle acupuncture method of "Puncturing from Zhi bian point to Shui dao point" (PZS) applied by Professor Yatig is an effective therapy for BPH with good results. The technique is simple and safe without side effect. In order to approach the mechanism way of PZS on BPI-I, our study used an animal experiment, and made comparison between the Awn-needle puncturing and filiform needle puncturing so that to observe the difference. The results of the study indicate that:Acupuncture method can reduce the, indexes of the prostate gland, the urinary bladder and the kidney. It can raise the activity of Nitric Oxide Synthase (NOS) in the outside leaf of the prostate gland. It can decrease the BUN and Cr in serum, so improve the ftinction of the kidney. It can restrain the increase of testosterone(T) and promote the production of estradiol (E2) in serum. Awn-needle mainly play the role of regulating the pathological change in BPI1 model mice, while fihiform needle mainly act on regulating the change of sexual hormone in the blood. This study confirms the experimental basis for 揕ong needle?theory in Yellow Emperor's Canon of Medicine.
