Object ive:To observe the clinical therapeutic effect of acupuncture combined with rehabilitation therapy on motor functional disturbance of stroke patients, to study effects and long-term efficacy of them on motor functions and activities of daily living in patients with stroke, and a rational proof of more effective rehabilitation therapy of intervention study is to be sought for the clinic to improve motor functional disturbance of these stroke patients. Methods:We have selected suitable cases from the department of rehabilitation in Beijing Guangwai hospital.40 patients are randomly divided into two groups, treatment group and control group. There are 20 patients each group. Patients in the control group are treated with the rehabilitation therapy, while those in the treatment group are received the acupuncture combined with rehabilitation therapy based on the control group. All patients are assessed before and after training period. The evaluating items included:(1) Fugl-Meyer assessment (FMA) scale is used for the motor function; (2) Functional Independence Measure (FIM) scales is used for activities of daily living. All treatments are received by the two groups for 1 time every day and 5 times is a week of treatment. After our treatments of one month and three months, we observe the clinical effect. Statistics:(1) Statistical significance is set at the 5%level. Analysis is performed to use the statistical package of social science (SPSS), version 13.0; (2) Measurement data are presented as meansĀ±SD, and independent sample test is used to compare the differences between two groups; (3) The comparison of categorical data among groups is performed by Chi-square; (4) Make appraisal of the motor function (FMA) and the activities of daily living (FIM). All data are analyzed to compare the effect with the statistical results. Paired sample T-test is applied to compare difference of the same group between before and after treatment, and independent sample T-test is used to compare the differences between two groups.Results:(1)Comparison in group:There are significant improvements (P<0.01) of motor functions, and activities of daily living after one month and three months therapies, compared with scores before the treatments, and all data have significant differences (P<0.01) after our treatments of one month and three months are accomplished. (2)Comparison between groups:There are significant difference (P<0.01) of motor functions, and activities of daily living between the treatment group and the control group after our treatments of one month. There are also significant difference (P<0.05) of motor functions, and activities of daily living between the treatment group and the control group after 3-month follow-up.Conclusion:(1) The acupuncture combined rehabilitation therapy is effective methods for motor functional disturbance of stroke patients. (2)The acupuncture combined rehabilitation therapy can effectively improved motor functions and activities of daily living of patient with stroke, and the effect is better than using a rehabilitation therapy only. (3)The effect of acupuncture combined with rehabilitation therapy synchronously can increase with prolong of the period of treatment in a certain period.
