Object: To evaluate the effect of intervention project among men who have sex with men (MSM) after six-months inplement. Methods: The intervention trial and the pre-intervention questionnaire was conducted in November 2008 and 390 subjects were investigated through snowball method. Intervention in Urumqi included MSM venue intervention distributing the education materials, condom and promoting HIV-test and STIs clinic referral by 120 MSM as Popular Opinion Leaders who received the knowledge and intervention skill training. Meanwhile, Popular Opinion Leader intervention was implemented in MSM peer network to advocate safe sex. After 6-month intervention the survey was conducted to assess the effectiveness of intervention. Results:①The overall correct rate of HIV/AIDS knowledge ranged from 3.2% to 36.1% in pre- and post-intervention, among which the Han ranged from 13.8% to 52.3% and the minority ranged from 0.0% to 28.7%.②After taking the integrated intervention on MSM, the rate of interviewee who have unprotected anal sex with men in the past 6 months was decreased from 97.7% (381/390) to 89.5%(349/390) (ORadjusted =4.751, 95%CI=2.265~9.966).The rate of interviewee used condom was increase from 68.7%(268/390) to 83.1%(324/390) (ORadjusted=0.429, 95%CI=0.303~0.607).③The rate of tend to looking for casual partners in public place , group sex activities,the attitude of suicide and talking about STD/AIDS'knowledge with others have significant differences between pre- and post-intervention (P<0.05).④After taking the integrated intervention on MSM,there was statistical significance in the han MSM, taproom group and network group who have more than one sex partners in past 6 months (P<0.05). Conclusions: The intervention on MSM is feasible and effective to increase knowledge related HIV/AIDSs andcondom using,as well as to decrease the risk of infection of HIV/AIDS among MSM.
