ObjectiveTo investigate the allergen of the children in different age group with Henoch-Schonlein purpura (HSP), in order to provide laboratory evidence and efficient preventive measure.Method38 children with Henoch-Schonlein purpura were divided into 3 groups (infants group, preschool children group and school children group) according to their age and allergen specific IgE (sIgE) of these children were examined with immunoblotting test. The results were compared and analysed andχ2 test was chosen to assess statistical significance.Results1. The relevance ratio of allergen specific IgE (sIgE) in 38 children was 44.74%, while in infants group, preschool children group and school children group the ratio was 33.33%,40.00% and 50.00%, respectively. There were no statistical difference between the three groups (P>0.05). 2. In infants group, milk was the most common allergen; in preschool children group, cat hair (3/10) and dog hair(3/10) were the most common allergen in inhalation/contactant group, mutton (2/10) and shellfish (2/10) were the most common allergen in food group; while in school children group, cat hair (9/22) and mutton (5/22) were the most common allergen.3. The allergen positive ratio of food in infants group, preschool children group and school children group were 33.33%,40%,36.36%. The allergen positive ratio of inhalation\contactant group in these three age groups were 16.67%,30%,40.91%.Conclusions1. In the infants group, food is the major part of allergen; in the school children group, inhalation\contactant is the major part of allergen; while in the preschool children group, food and inhalation\contactant are nearly of the same class. The relevance ratio of allergen specific IgE (sIgE) has no relation to age group.2. With age, as to the children with Henoch-Schonlein purpura, the ratio be allergic to food is decreasing while the ratio be allergic to inhalation/contactant is increasing.3. There is much positive clinical significance both in protecting children and preventing the development of the course of disease. By detecting allergen specific IgE, children with Henoch-Schonlein purpura could avoid certain food pertinently and keep away from hinhalation\contactant allergen.
