| Lecithin has been used as food,livestock and medication.Choline chloride(CC) is commonly used as additive in feedstuff and as growth regulator in plants.Choline is the major component of lecithin,and CC is a hydrochlorate from choline.Is there the same function between lecithin and CC based on the same component choline? Lots of researches showed,that CC could promote the bourgeoning,growth and enhance the chilling resistance of plants.In this paper,the effects of lecithin and CC were investigated on the germination,seedling growth and chilling resistance in maize.At normal temperature,both the low concentration lecithin and CC can promote bourgeoning of maize seeds.After being dipped in lecithin and CC solution for 12 hours, maize seeds germinated in dark.After 48 hours,seed germination rate was 1.20 fold to the control and seed germination trend was 1.41 fold to the control both treated with 20 mg·1-1 CC and 20 mg·1-1 lecithin and both were markedly higher than the control.After germination,with low CC and lecithin concentration,shoot length,root length,fresh and dry weight of shoots and roots were higher than the control,but along with the increase of concentration,the advancing trend of every one decreased and was markedly lower than that of the control.The effects of foliar sprays of lecithin and choline chloride(CC) were investigated on the seedling growth.At normal temperature,lecithin and CC did not markedly affect the shoot height and fresh weight,but enhanced chlorophyll accumulation and root growth.The effects of foliar sprays of lecithin and choline chloride(CC) were investigated on the chilling resistance in maize.At 4℃,pretreatment with foliar sprays of CC at 160 mg·L-1 or lecithin at 80 mg·L-1 slowed down MDA production and chlorophyll degradation, reduced membrane permeability and increased activities of CAT,APX and SOD.It is suggested that both lecithin and CC enhance the chilling resistance of maize seedlings. |
