The fourth generation short range Air-to-Air missiles have the ability of large off-bore-sight angle launching(even more firing over shoulder) and intercept the target automatically after firing .These technique puts forward the higher request to guidance technique. Any single guidance method can not have satisfied these battle requests yet. So the compound guidance technique must be adopted. The main concentration of the compound guidance technique study is in two aspects: midcourse and terminal guidance law and guidance hand-off method.The procession, midcourse guidance is transferring to terminal guidance in compound guidance technique, is called midcourse and terminal guidance handing-off. It has two basic missions: seeker handing-off and trajectory handing-off. On the condition of allowing error, the seeker handing-off leads the missile to some space steadily and rapidly and makes seeker intercept the target automatically;the trajectory handing-off ensures smooth transition from midcourse guidance stage to terminal guidance stage.In this paper, a short range air-to-air missile handing-off method between midcourse and terminal guidance is considered. The main study includes two aspects, which are the seeker handing-off and trajectory handing-off. The purposes of study are solving intercepting technique after firing of imaging guidance technique;calculating probability of interception on unguided condition;designing method of midcourse and terminal guidance handing-off;establishing numeral simulative system;achieving the method performance valuation and simulation validation. The main missions are as follow:First the work principle of compound guidance, the selection of midcourse guidance law and terminal guidance law, concept and purpose of handing-off between midcourse and terminal guidance are introduced. Following, the fairway programming problem of seeker handing-off are solved as follow: ensures estimative intercepting point, hand-off time, optimal navigation tendency and seeker obliquity angle according to the midcourse guidance strategy. Then make sure factors which affect acquisition probability, typical target maneuver ways and acquisition probability calculating mode. After that, design the adaptive trajectory handing-off arithmetic inthe procession of handing-off between midcourse and terminal guidance, and discuss the navigation error and parameter option of the design to promote the design. Finally, present the simulation result of above design combining seeker handing-off model, compound control system model, projectile body kinematics model and target maneuver model. The simulation results prove that the scheme of system is feasible.
