This paper uses the thermal transferring and tribology theory to analyze the contact course of two rough surfaces. A three-dimensional finite element mathematical model describing the thermal-contact course between two rough surfaces has been also established. With the help of this FEM model and ANSYS software, the temperature distribution of contact objects and the contact thermal resistance of rough surfaces are calculated. During the analysis of thermal-contact of rough surfaces, the influences of mechanical properties and thermal effects on the contact course of two rough surfaces can be considered simultaneously by means of the thermal-construct function provided by ANSYS, which is thus more consistent with the practical operating condition. The analysis and discussion to the effect of some parameters on the contact thermal resistance are also made in the work, and then some useful conclusion is made. Finally, the contact thermal resistance of two rough surfaces is computed by using the method presented in this paper. The comparison between the results of this paper and those by experiment in some documents111 is finally shown and a good agreement is obtained.
