The main goal of environmental protection is to protect the health of mankind and to keep sustainable development of human society.Health risk assessment is an important method to quantitatively describe the relationship between pollution and human health.Health risk assessment can offer scientific evaluation about contamination's damage to human health and dependable warrant for pollution management.Karst groundwater system is complicated in Guiyang city, unique characteristics of hydrogeochemistry and prominent geochemistry vulnerability and environment frangibility. The research of health risk assessment of heavy metals pollution in the Guiyang city,it can provide decision-making to exploitation and protection groundwater resource.Health risks associated with pollution in drinking water were assessed using U,S.EPA health risk assessment model. The results showed that:1.The health risks levels caused by non-carcinogenic in groundwater in Guiyang city ranged from 10-8 to 10-10a-1,much lower than the maximum allowance levels recommended by ICRP.2.The health risks levels caused by carcinogen in groundwater in Guiyang city were much higher than the risks caused by non-carcinogenic,ranged at 10-6 a1,the largest risk was 1.76×10-5a-1.3.The health risks levels caused by carcinogen and non-carcinogenic in groundwater in Guiyang city were lower than the maximum allowance levels recomm ended by ICRP(5.00×10-5a-1).But the risks at some point catch our eye.
