Since last century the 90's,the study of virtual team is increasingly becoming a hot issue.Virtual team research gain quite good results,mainly in:the factors impact of virtual team success,the differences between virtual teams and traditional face-to-face group,the relationship of trust and the performance of virtual team,virtual team research in the field of communication problems. However,past research literature,are not able to answer very well the dynamics of virtual team trust,as well as the characteristics of virtual team interactive communication with different team performance.Based on this,this study adopted the simulate management game Tinsel Town, which created by Devine(Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis),to simulate the operation of the virtual team,then using qualitative and quantitative research methods to explore the two questions above.In this study,a total of nine Virtual Teams were set up to participate in simulation games,each virtual team has five members,and they play vice-president role in a virtual Hollywood film investment company respectively.The task of the experiment is that each virtual team to operate the virtual company,to make optimal investment decisions in order to maximize corporate profits.Using the qualitative research software QSR Nvivo8.0 and statistical software SPSS11.0,the authors process content analysis with the virtual team communication records and statistics analysis,obtained the following conclusions:(1) Decision-making performance in different communication mode are significant differences,the network communication mode(NCM) has the highest decision-making performance,the second is the wheel communication mode(WCM), the minimum is the chain communication mode(CCM).(2) There was a significant difference of virtual team members' satisfaction in different communication mode,the NCM has the highest virtual team members' satisfaction than the WCM,the CCM is under the lowest.In addition, virtual team members' satisfaction is mainly affected by the decision-making performance.(3) there was a significant difference of virtual team communication satisfaction in different communication mode,and team communication satisfaction are mainly affected by communication technologies,the role of team members responsibilities and the results of team performance.(4) Virtual teams under high decision-making performance exist high level of team trust,vice versa,virtual teams under low decision-making performance exist low level of team trust.(5) The level of virtual team trust is mainly affected by the cognitive-base trust.(6) cognitive-base trust and emotional-base trust are reflected by the virtual team performance outcomes.The difference is that feedback of the virtual team performance outcome which is achieve expectation,it will strengthen the perception of cognitive-base trust,on the contrary would undermine the perception of cognitive-base trust.But only the feedback has achieved the expected results that will strengthen the emotional-base trust.(7) Under the network communication model,the virtual teams members are devote more efforts to develop team relationships,especially interpersonal interaction aspects.The innovation of this study is that the use of a high degree of simulation and full of interesting management simulation game to simulate the operation of the virtual team process,and fully integrate the qualitative and quantitative research methods to start the experimental study.
