The study of landscape pattern based on GIS is the frontier in the land-use change research field, and building the land-use suitability assessment system based on GIS is also the hot spot in the study of urban planning and other related planning. This thesis surveyed the distribution of land-use pattern, from the perspective of regional landscape pattern change and land-use ecological suitability, which will have important theoretical and realistic significance. This paper tried using landscape ecology and environmental management and other kinds of subjects, by studying land-use change and ecological suitability of Pudong New Area, to discuss the process and characteristics of land-use and landscape pattern change in the rapid urbanization process in detail, on this basis, evaluate the ecological suitability of industry land, one of main land-use types in Pudong New Area. The main work and results are showed as below.(1) According to the methods of land-use transition matrixes and landscape pattern metrics, after discussing the process and characteristics since 1965, it is showed that: i) the study area experienced rapid urbanization through over 40 years, which was mainly manifested as the vanish of a plenty of agriculture land and river, and the continuous increase of urban land, ii) as the main vanishing type, agriculture land is accounted for the augment of industry land, resident land, and road land, 55% of which is made up by the first two lands. The main change type differed in every period, such as agriculture land to industrial and residential land in 1965~1989, agriculture land to industrial and road land in 1989~1994, agricultural and residential land to industry and road land in 1994~1999, agricultural land and river to industrial, green and road land in 1999~2003, agricultural land and river to industrial and residential land in 2003~2006. iii) agricultural and residential landscape are the main landscape types in the study area. In the landscape patch types scale, road landscape's LPI index is the largest, and it has the highest complexity. In the landscape scale, the distribution of each type is relatively even, and there is no some dominant landscape type.(2) According to the function of GIS for map layers piling, this paper evaluated the ecological suitability of industry land in 2006. By choosing the guiding and restricting indexes, the eco-suitability evaluation index system of industry land in Pudong New Area was built. After digitalizing each evaluation factor and transferring to GRID type, the ecological suitability of industry land was evaluated in the field calculator in arcgis 9.2 by weighted piling method, and the results showed that: i ) The area of suitable for industry land is 109.41km~2, and it is already 94.51 km~2 industry area in Pudong, in 2006, then there is only 10 km2 land for extention. So measures should be taken to enhance the efficiency of land-use, by optimizing the pattern of industry land, in order to keep the ecological environment balance, ii) The area of suitable for industry land is concentrated, which accords with"using land concentrately"and"industry in the industrial parks"principle. The suitable area for industry land is concentrated in the middle of the study area, and except some industry parks currently, other industry land outside of these areas doesn't accord with the requirement of ecological suitability, which should be adjusted in the landuse planning in the future.(3) The optimization of land-use structure layout. By the analysis of present layout in the study area, the distribution of environmental quality and pollution point sources, problems with layout in the study area were listed. Suggestions of optimization and adjustment about land-use were put forward on this basis: i) concentrate landuse, and control scales of landuse for construction; ii) develop ecological economic, and build ecological industrial parks; iii) optimize ecological pattern, and secure regional ecological security; iv) perfect landscape corridor, and protect the biodiversity; v) enhance the ecological construction, and strengthen the protection of wetlands.
